Andy Coughlan was born in Brighton, England, and has lived in Texas for nearly 40 years. He is an artist, journalist, playwright, director and actor. Coughlan teaches at Lamar University where he has been adviser to the University Press, the student newspaper, for 29 years. He is a freelance arts writer for The Beaumont Enterprise, where he has drawn editorial cartoons for 26 years. He edited ISSUE, an award-winning arts magazine, for 18 years. Andy’s blog, “English with a Bit of Texas” has been named best independent blog six times years by the Press Club of Southeast Texas. His play, “A Single Drop,” was named audience choice best play at the 8×10 Play Festival. He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Dramatist Guild of America. He is currently president of the Press Club of Southeast Texas.
